London’s skyline is constantly evolving, and the latest addition to its architectural tapestry is The Scoop, a striking office building designed by Corstorphine & Wright. Located in the heart of Southwark, this building has quickly become a local landmark for its unique and innovative design.
The project involved a collaboration between the architecture firm Corstorphine & Wright and the building owners, ThomsonHillsBalfour Limited (THB). The design team sought to create a contemporary office space that would complement the historic character of the surrounding area, particularly the Grade II listed Church of Most Precious Blood.

The standout feature of The Scoop is its distinctive concave façade. This bold architectural move creates a “visual bridge” that frames the church’s circular window, enhancing its presence in the cityscape. Clad in white glazed bricks, the building’s exterior contrasts beautifully with the traditional architecture of the neighborhood.
Beyond its striking appearance, it also offers modern office spaces, a rooftop garden with panoramic views of London, and increased floor area compared to the original building. This thoughtful design not only respects the heritage of the area but also provides a high-quality workspace for its occupants.
The Scoop is a testament to the potential of contemporary architecture to enhance and enrich existing urban environments. By combining innovative design with a deep understanding of its context, Corstorphine & Wright has created a building that is both visually captivating and functionally successful.
